The Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) was established in 1939 to act as the Mexican's government bureau for the protection, promotion and research of heritage sites within Mexico. INAH supervises over 100 museums, over 110,000 monuments built between the 16th and 19th century, and 29,000 of Mexico's 200,000 pre-Columbian heritage sites.
