San Jose's Japanese American Museum Hosts Successful Interactive Session for Community

On March 16th, 2013 I had the opportunity to present at the Japanese American Museum in San Jose (JAMsj). The presentation was open to the community and focused on presenting the preliminary results from our Japanese American Confinement Sites Grant on virtually reconstructing Manzanar, Topaz and Tule Lake. JAMsj did a wonderful job advertising the event and we had attendees from throughout the Silicon Valley community.

The event consisted of a 30 minute formal presentation on our project, followed by a question and answer session and hands on participation. Although the project has not been formally released through the CyArk website, we were able to set up several computers with access to the Japanese American Confinement Sites web portal on CyArk.org.

The audience had some great questions about our project, and it being Silicon Valley, had a particular interest in the technology. It was a great experience to see members of the general public navigate through the web portal and the 3D interactive environments. We also received some helpful feedback on improvements we should make before the formal launch.

A special thanks to the JAMsj members and volunteers for arranging this event. We look forward to sharing the information with the broader public soon.
