Xochicalco in the Nahuatl language means "place of the house with flowers". It developed between 700 and 900 CE. when Teotihuacan had ceased to be Mesoamerica´s economic and political leader, and a power vacuum had been created.
The data collected at Xochicalco focuses on three areas: the Main Square (specifically the Temple of the Feathered Serpent), the Plaza de la Estela de los Dos Glifos (specifically the stele and altar, and both flanking pyramidal temple structures to the east and west), and the South Ballcourt. The data was collected to provide a base documentation data set for both current and future conservation work occurring on these structures. It was collected at suitable resolution for information and registered to geocoordinates.
