The ISDE is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization, principally for promotion of academic exchange, science and technology innovation, education, and international collaboration. The purpose of the Society is to promote international cooperation on the Digital Earth vision, and enable the Digital Earth technology to play key roles inter alia, in economic and social sustainable development, environmental protection, disaster mitigation, natural resources conservation and improvement of human being’s living standard.

This is the first Symposium on Digital Earth to be held in the southern hemisphere and will see the launch of a new Vision for Digital Earth in 2020; building on the vision originally set out by the by former United States Vice President Al Gore.

The Conference brings together some 700 delegates from over 15 countries and over 100 speakers from; Europe, the United States, Iran, Korea, Singapore, China, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand – providing us with a truly global view of the Digital Earth in action.
