Preah Vihear

In December of 2023, CyArk traveled to Northern Cambodia to provide training to 8 students of the Phare Ponleu Selpak, Visual and Applied Arts School and members of the National Authority for Preah Vihear (NAPV). During the training, the students learned 3D documentation skills which were applied to the documentation of the Grand Northern Staircase of the UNESCO Heritage site of Preah Vihear. The students also participated in storytelling sessions to identify the key themes to be presented in the virtual experience and conduct interviews with relevant stakeholders. The Tapestry experience of Preah Vihear is the result of the student 3D documentation, narrative construction and video interviews. The Community Heritage Exchange Initiative focuses on documenting and sharing the stories of cultural heritage sites to support the exchange of community-centered stories that highlight the value and impact of the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) in its efforts to preserve and protect cultural heritage. CyArk, an American non-profit organization, is partnering with StoryCenter on the Virtual Tour component of the project to host workshops and create virtual tours of eight heritage sites around the world to make some of the heritage that has been preserved by AFCP virtually accessible to the public while also supporting local communities.
